 The Osteopath Pty Ltd

Dr Nick Penney  DO, BSc (Hons) Ost Med qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 1980 and practised in the UK and New Zealand before moving to Queensland six years ago.

In the UK, Nick was appointed as the Osteopath for the England Men's Volleyball team for six years, as well as serving as an external examiner at the schools final clinical examination of graduating students.

In New Zealand, as president of the New Zealand Register of Osteopaths, Nick chaired the committee that oversaw the setting up of the five year double degree program in Osteopathy in Auckland.

During this time Nick was also part of the group that developed the New Zealand clinical guidelines for the management of Acute Low Back Pain, which indirectly led to being part of the steering committee of the Australian Acute Musculoskeletal Pain Guidelines Group. This group recently reviewed all the scientific evidence for the management of acute neck, mid back, low back, shoulder and knee pain. The clinical guidelines and consumer information are now available from the National Health and Medical Research Council web site, a link for which appears below.

Nick is currently enrolled as a part time PhD student at the University of Queensland School of Medicine, looking at the biopsychosocial model of low back pain, on which more information will be available later.

Dr Shelley Joe B.App.Sci.(Clin Sci) B.Osteo.Sci. MsM (Pain Management) qualified from RMIT in Melbourne in 1996 having consistently performed in the top 15% of students within the entire university during her five years of study.

Since being back in Australia, Shelley has recently completed the University of Sydney's Post Graduate Masters Program, the Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) run by the Faculty of Medicine.
